Talawanda High School E-News - March 29th, 2020

THS Family,

Just checking in. I am sure everyone, almost everyone, is missing school just a bit. We are on the last day of Spring Break but we will have some decisions to make in the next days and weeks as the COVID 19 Pandemic runs the course. We are still under the guidance from Governor DeWine that closures and “Social Distancing” will continue until the early part of April.

There has been some direction to us coming from the ODE/Legislature that impacts schools. What we are hearing is favorable for students. We have not met as a Leadership Team due to Spring Break but more specific information will follow in the next few days and weeks. In regard to Work Permits, employers know that if you have all the documentation you need to get the permit you do not have to have the official form from the school. The form can come later.

In the meantime, continue to practice Social Distancing and WASH YOUR HANDS. Take care and be well. Miss everyone! #RelationshipsB4T

Mr. York

Reminders:

  • Your teachers miss you! Please remember that students need to be checking their Talawanda email and Google classroom every school day!
  • TSD Meal/Food Program Update! See flyer for details!  The program will continue on Mondays & Fridays.  Thank you to all of our volunteers and community partners for the continued support!

  • If your senior missed the senior picture deadline, there is still time to make sure the portrait ends up in the yearbook!  Email yearbook@talawanda.org with your portrait and the yearbook staff will make sure the picture gets into the yearbook!

  • Senior Ads are still on sale!  Please contact yearbook@talawanda.org if you would like to reserve your senior special place in the yearbook.  Payment and pictures are also due for Senior Ads by April 30th - pictures can be emailed or delivered to the main office and checks can be made out to Talawanda High School.

  • Don't forget to get your copy of the 2019-2020 yearbook by visiting www.jostens.com and selecting Talawanda High School from the yearbook menu.

  • Best Buddies members: If anyone would like to email with Mrs. Sammons or be set up to correspond with a buddy as an electronic pen pal while we are out of school, please email Mrs. Sammons at sammonsa@talawanda.org. Also, please follow our Facebook page “Talawanda High School Best Buddies” for information and ideas to do at home.

  • Did you know students have access to FREE audiobooks and ebooks through the Talawanda Middle and High School OverDrive collection?
    • Students can download the Sora app on any device, or they can use the OverDrive widget on their Chromebook Abre page to access our digital collection.
    • Our collection of titles is an extension of Talawanda Middle and High School’s physical libraries.  The difference is students have 24/7 access to ebooks and audiobooks. It’s convenient for students to check out titles at home, on the weekends or during school breaks with no worry about misplacing a book or running up late fees – these digital titles automatically return at the end of the lending period!
    • We have been building our OverDrive collection and are excited to currently have over 1400 eBooks and 300 audiobooks!
    • When accessing the collection, student logins are the same as gmail account logins WITHOUT the @talawanda.org. Example:
      • Username:  monica.greene
      • Password:  413090tsd
    • Please contact Monica Greene greenem@talawanda.org with any questions.
