Talawanda High School E-News - February 5, 2020

Important Information and Reminders:

  • REMINDER to TSD Parents: Low Temperatures and snow are predicted for the weekend and next week.  Student safety is very important, and we want to remind parents to check the weather and to make sure students are dressed warm.  During very low temperatures coats, hats, and gloves are needed.

TSD makes decisions regarding school delays and inclement weather on a case by case basis, and we track the weather and road conditions frequently.  We want to make sure everyone is prepared for the weather we will experience during the next few weeks for the safety and well being of all of our students and staff. Thank you and be safe!

  • Mask Up Talawanda!!! Remember, our ability to stay in school depends on everyone wearing their masks correctly! Over the nose and under the chin keeps everyone safe!

  • Our apologies! Because of an editing error, a few students were left off our 2nd Quarter Honor Roll list. Congratulations to Hannah Adkins-Lamb, Koray Bayram, and Brendan Bohon!

  • The THS Media Center has double the number of overdue books due to the remote learning and school closings.  We did not have a chance to collect most of the books that were due from the 2019-2020 school year and most of the books that were checked out during the brief face to face weeks in late October and early November 2020.  If possible, especially those who are currently attending in person, please return or renew any book you currently have checked out that is overdue.

School fees can be paid by cash, check or online with a credit card at: https://www.spsezpay.com/Talawanda/login.aspx Please remember that seniors must pay ALL their fees before graduation.

  • This past weekend the swim and dive teams hosted the SWOC Championship meet at Miami University.  Congratulations to the boys’ team for winning their 15th consecutive league championship.  En route to winning the championship by nearly 100 points over Ross, the boys went 1-2 in 7 of the 12 events contested.  Ben Crowder was named Male Athlete of the Year for the 3rd consecutive year as he set a conference record in the 100 Freestyle.  The 200 Freestyle Relay team of Ben, Blake Madden, Noah Femiani, and Maxx Gregg also set a conference record as well at the meet.  For the girls, they lost a heartbreaker to Ross by just 9 points coming in 2nd place for just the first time in the last 15 years.  Maren Patterson led the way for the girls by setting a conference record in the 100 Freestyle and the 200 Medley Relay team of Mercy Patterson, Maren, Kenna Mondello, and Hannah Lippincott also set a conference record.  Both the boys and girls teams will take to the water again this weekend as the state tournament begins with the sectional swim meets.  Good luck to both the boys and girls!

  • Hey Key Club and Project Green Kids!

  • Sunday, 2/7: Key Club and Project Green will be doing trail work in the Natural Areas from 1-3. Students need to bring a signed liability form (outside Mrs. Ruther's classroom) and wear a mask. Students may bring a non-motorized yard tool and gloves to use. We will have some to share. Email Mr. Drew or Mrs. Adriane Ruther with questions.

  • Food distribution happens on Mondays from 2:15-2:45 at all 3 elementary schools. In addition, TMS and THS Students who will not be face to face on Wednesdays can pick up a breakfast and lunch at TMS or THS between 10 am and noon. More information here!
