Talawanda High School E-News - February 19, 2020

Important Information and Reminders:

• Staff Vaccination Update- The next staff vaccination is scheduled for Thursday, February 25th, and that will be an asynchronous school day.  In addition, Friday, February 26th will also be an asynchronous school day.  The health data indicates that a significant number of people have a reaction to the second vaccine.  TSD has not been able to secure enough subs for that date, and it has been determined that an asynchronous school day is the best solution.

• Mask Up Talawanda!!! Remember, our ability to stay in school depends on everyone wearing their masks correctly! Over the nose and under the chin keeps everyone safe!

• School fees can be paid by cash, check, or online with a credit card at: https://www.spsezpay.com/Talawanda/login.aspx Please remember that seniors must pay ALL their fees before graduation.

• Just a reminder that the OCF & Local Scholarships are due soon! With all of the snow days, we are extending the deadline for all materials (to be turned into the THS School Counseling Office) to Thursday, February 25th at 3 PM. If you have questions about how to assemble the packets, please contact Mrs. Roy (513.273.3218) or contact your school counselor. 

• Senior pictures are due to the Yearbook by March 5th!  You can upload your picture using the link below, and the code that was provided to submit directly to the THS yearbook library: www.images.jostens.com, 415713950  

If you are submitting a senior picture please follow these rules:

1. Backgrounds are up to you, these can cater to your senior
2. Face must be seen clearly, but not limited to only chest shots
3. NO FILTERS -but-  props are ok as long as they follow code of conduct

If you would like to purchase a senior ad in the yearbook, we have space left - but it is going fast!  Please contact yearbook@talawanda.org for prices and sizes available!

• ALL THS juniors will be taking the ACT on Wednesday, February 24th.  ONLY JUNIORS will report to school this day. Completion of the ACT is a graduation requirement. 

You will be expected to be in your assigned test room by 7:45 am. Test locations will be shared that morning. Remote learners will test in person at THS in socially distanced spaces.

If you need bus transportation, you will need to fill out the Google Form below NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 17th. 

Once the testing is completed, you will be allowed to leave if you drove or are picked up.  This will be anywhere between 12 and 12:30.  You should drive yourselves!

If you are riding the bus, you will need to wait in the cafeteria until the Wednesday release time.   Some type of pre-packaged lunch will be provided.

If you have accommodations or extended time, you may need to make other arrangements for being picked up that day.    

For test day, please make sure to:

• Bring a CHARGED Chromebook!
• Bring a calculator.
• Be here ON TIME!

• Parents, we need you.  Our juniors in Career/College Readiness class benefit from an opportunity for a mock interview.  The interviews will happen virtually the week of 4/26.  If you have as little as 1 hour, you can help all of the students in this course have this valuable experience.  If you can help, please contact Teresa Peter at 513-476-7829 or petert@talawanda.org.

• Parents and guardians interested in attending a virtual course on youth mental health can find more info here! It will be held Thursday, March 25th.

• Need some help parenting your tough kid? Want to improve their school performance and help them to make better choices? Check out this training starting on March 4th! It’s free for all Butler County parents!

• Food distribution happens on Mondays from 2:15-2:45 at all 3 elementary schools. In addition, TMS and THS Students who will not be face to face on Wednesdays can pick up a breakfast and lunch at TMS or THS between 10 am and noon. More information here!
