Talawanda High School E-News - February 12, 2020

Important Information and Reminders:

  • Staff Vaccination Update- The next staff vaccination is scheduled for Thursday, February 25th, and that will be an asynchronous school day.  In addition, Friday, February 26th will also be an asynchronous school day.  The health data indicates that a significant number of people have a reaction to the second vaccine.  TSD has not been able to secure enough subs for that date, and it has been determined that an asynchronous school day is the best solution.

  • Mask Up Talawanda!!! Remember, our ability to stay in school depends on everyone wearing their masks correctly! Over the nose and under the chin keeps everyone safe!

  • All juniors will take the ACT on Wednesday, February 24th. Information about the day will be sent out via school messenger to parents and students early next week. If your student will need transportation on ACT day, they will need to complete the bus form that will be sent to their THS email account no later than Wednesday, February 14th.

  • Best Buddies will meet on Wednesday, February 17 at 2 pm. Students are welcome to join the club at any time and everyone is welcome. Please email Mrs. Sammons at sammonsa@talawanda.org for the Zoom link!

  • Seniors.....A reminder that your applications for both the Oxford Community Foundation and Talawanda Scholarships are due next Friday, Feb 19 by 3 pm.  Please allow enough time for anyone writing letters of recommendation for you.  You can either request a copy of your transcript through Parchment or if you are in the building you can stop by guidance and get a copy.  These do not need to be official so you can make as many copies as you need.   Please see  Mrs. Roy with any questions.

  • Parents, we need you.  Our juniors in Career/College Readiness class benefit from an opportunity for a mock interview.  The interviews will happen virtually the week of 4/26.  If you have as little as 1 hour, you can help all of the students in this course have this valuable experience.  If you can help, please contact Teresa Peter at 513-476-7829 or petert@talawanda.org.

  • Congratulations to the swim teams for an excellent weekend of swimming at the sectional swim meets.  In total the teams recorded 32 season best times last weekend.  That allowed both teams to finish in 3rd place at their respective meets.  For the boys 8 are moving on to the district meet now led by Ben Crowder who qualified in the 50 Free and 100 Free.  Also moving on to the district meet as a part of relays are Alex Carlson, Noah Femiani, Maxx Gregg, Zeke Groom, Blake Madden, Daniel Mullally, and Stephen Mullally.  The girls were led by the Patterson sisters as Maren qualified to the district meet in both the 100 Free and 100 Back, while Mercy qualified to the district meet in the 100 Fly.  Hannah Lippincott and Kenna Mondello also qualified to the district meet as a part of relays.  Tomorrow will be the sectional diving meet, where Sam Hool is the heavy favorite to repeat as champion.
