Talawanda High School E-News - January 15, 2020

 

Important Information and Reminders:

 

  • Because of MLK day food distribution will happen on the 19th next week and then return to Mondays after that. TMS and THS students who will not be face to face on Wednesdays but would like a breakfast and lunch may visit TMS or THS between 10am and 12pm to pick up their meals OR call 513-461-0455 to schedule a deliver. More info here!

 

  • Invoices for school fees are being sent out. Fees can be paid by cash, check or online with a credit card at: https://www.spsezpay.com/Talawanda/login.aspx Please remember that seniors must pay ALL their fees before graduation.

 

  • Picture Day for Face-To-Face students will be Friday, January 22nd. Picture Day for Remote students will be Wednesday, January 27th.  Remote students were sent a link so they can reserve a spot on the 27th. Check out the Lifetouch flyer here.

 

 

  • Talawanda and Oxford Community Foundation Scholarship books will be available the week of 1/18. They will be available:
    • On our counseling website
    • Emailed to both parents and students
    • Tweeted with the link for our website
    • Hard copies in the counseling office

 

  • QPR Gatekeeper Trainings: Question, Persuade, Refer, is an effective training that will prepare the participant to get someone in a mental health crisis to help This free training is intended for adults. More info here!

 

  • Best Buddies will have our first meeting of the semester on Wednesday, January 20 at 2pm. All students are welcome to attend and join us for inclusion and friendship. Please email Mrs. Sammons at sammonsa@talawanda.org for the Zoom link! 

 

  • Last week the Brave swim & dive teams took on Ross and Harrison in a tri-meet at the Miami Rec Center.  The boys team came away victorious against both teams, while the girls team defeated Harrison, but lost to Ross.  However, both teams swam incredibly well regardless of the results as 30 season best times were recorded at the meet.  Picking up individual event wins were Hannah Lippincott, Ben Crowder, Blake Madden, Mercy Patterson, Noah Femiani, Eliza Sullivan, Josh Graham, Maxx Gregg, Daniel Mullally, and Alex Carlson.  The swim teams will be travelling to Lawrenceburg High School in Indiana tomorrow to take on Harrison in a dual meet.  The meet begins at 9:10 AM and will be live-streamed via www.harrisonwildcats.net.

  • Submit a picture for inclusion in the yearbook! Please visit this site and enter the supplied ID: www.images.jostens.com

    • If you are submitting an underclass picture please follow these rules:
  1. Solid, single-color background - NO OUTSIDE PICTURES!
  2. Chest up portrait, face can be seen clearly
  3. No props, filters, or other extra features added
    • If you are submitting a senior picture please follow these rules:
  1. Backgrounds are up to you, these can cater to your senior
  2. Face must be seen clearly, but not limited to only chest shots
  3. NO FILTERS -but-  props are ok as long as they follow code of conduct

 

You must provide the first and last name of the student you are uploading, as well as grade and email.  This applies to all students, even seniors.  You can no longer submit your photo to yearbook@talawanda.org! Please use the provided link and school code!  If your portrait does not follow the rules supplied, you will receive a notification of a rejected photo and be asked to resubmit!

  • PUSH has funding for furnace and water heater repairs or replacements. Grants are available to low-income, homeowners in the Talawanda School District for critical and emergency home repairs. Call Jeanne or Sabrina at 513-523-8100 for more information.
