Drop Off and Pick Up

Drop off and Pick Up will continue to improve as everyone learns the procedures (please share the procedures with anyone who may be doing drop off/pick up for your family).  Please make sure students exit and enter the car on the passenger side of the vehicle and please pull forward using the entire length of the sidewalk.  For everyone’s safety, please do not pass cars in the drop off/pick up line - unless directed by staff members.  During Pick Up, please stay in your car and use the upper lot if students need help buckling in order to keep the line moving.  If your child is not on the permanent pick up list, please send a note with your child on days you are picking them up so we know to send them to the Car Rider Area and not to the bus.  Permanent Pick Up Form.  Pick up signs can be requested online.

COVID 19 Quarantine Procedures Q and A

Some questions have come up regarding quarantine procedures.

As a reminder, a person is considered a contact when they have been within 6 feet of a person who has tested positive for COVID 19 for 15 minutes or more without a mask or when they have been within 3 feet of the person for 15 minutes or more with a mask.

Keep in mind, in most classrooms we cannot keep all students 3 feet apart from each other so your child may be seated closer than 3 feet to 1 to 2 students.  We try to match who they sit by in art, music, and PE but the seating options in these spaces are not exactly the same as the classrooms so it may add another student to the mix.

In addition, we seat students at lunch based on their classroom seating to limit the number of possible exposures.  HOWEVER, lunch is unmasked and so the distance becomes 6 feet.  This means the number of possible exposures can be anywhere from 2 to 4 students depending on where they sit at the table.

If your child is considered a contact we will provide you a letter with the quarantine dates and guidelines.  The length of a typical quarantine is 10 days from the last date of exposure.  Individuals may test on days 5, 6, or 7 from their last contact with a positive person.  If the individual has a negative COVID19 test on days 5, 6, or 7, the individual may return on day 8.  The test results must be submitted to the school.

If your child has been exposed and is considered a contact,  the question as to whether to test or not is certainly up to each family.  Here are some of the things that we have found out.  If your child is not having any symptoms and you test and they test positive then the 10 days starts over from the date of the positive test.  You have to weigh the advantages of knowing versus not knowing and a shortened quarantine versus a longer one.  If your child is having any symptoms, it may be a good idea to have them tested so that you know and if they are positive then you can closely monitor their health and yours ; in addition, they would not need to be quarantined again any time in the following 90 days from their positive test if they are considered a contact during those 90 days.

Finally, if anyone in your family is exhibiting symptoms or they are being tested for COVID19 then please keep all children in your family home until you know the results or have an alternate diagnosis.  This will help limit the spread and/or need for quarantines.  Thank you for your help and support.

The National Lunch Program has extended the free meal status for all students for breakfast and lunch for the 2021-2022 school year.  While the free meal status applies to all students, if you would like to see if you qualify for a waiver of school fees you would still need to complete the Free and Reduced Lunch Application.
