A Peaceful, Productive, Healthy, and Happy Community

The mission of Marshall Elementary is to work as a community to achieve higher levels of thinking and learning by empowering every learner everyday.

School News and Information

Happy Friday!  A lot has happened since last week.  All of our items were moved and are ready and waiting for the new building to be completed.  We held our auction and many of the purchased items have already been removed from the current building.  In addition, the inside demolition has already begun with ceiling tiles being removed.  Progress everyday to prepare us for our new building and all during this time students continued to meet with their teachers online so that the learning continues!

As a reminder our phone system at Marshall will be down until we are in the new building.  If you need to reach the office staff, the best method will be through email.  You can also reach your child's teacher via their email address - this is the best way to let your child’s teacher know if they will not be able to join a zoom session.

Problems with your device?

If you are having tech issues with your chromebook or iPad during our remote learning time, our district tech department can be reached through the Talawanda High School Media Center @  273-3230.

As a reminder May 27th is our last day of school for this school year.  Chromebooks, iPad, and/or Hotspots will be collected on May 28th at Talawanda High School - more details about the times and location will be sent in the coming weeks.

A reminder that Remote Meals can be picked up on Mondays from 1:00 to 1:30 at THS - follow the bus loop on the right side of the building for pick up. Food Distribution Program

We previously shared information with you about a childcare option through the YMCA and located at the Fitton Family Y in Hamilton that is available during this time of remote learning.  They will definitely be running the program and have room for more students - even if it is only for certain days.  Here is the flyer.

Survey- Mrs. Macechko

We need your feedback! A group of community partners serving the Oxford area, including the Coalition for a Healthy Community - Oxford Area, Talawanda Schools, Miami University, the Butler County Mental Health and Addiction Services Board, and McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital/Tri Health, are working on a project to reduce gaps and address barriers to substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery programs. Your participation in the following survey will help us identify priorities and areas of focus for this work. Your feedback is completely voluntary and will remain anonymous.

If you have any questions, please contact Laura Brinson, Evaluator with Epiphany Community Services, at laura@epiphanycommunityservices.org

Thank you for your support as we work together to make the Oxford area a healthier place to live, learn, work, and play!

In addition: A large portion of individuals with learning disabilities have sensory processing issues which include a sensitivity to sound.  This means that anytime there is a noise, even a quiet one, it affects their ability to focus on anything except the sound.  The stress that some sounds cause can lead to safety concerns for the children affected.  If we know ahead of time, to prevent those situations from occurring we can provide some warning about the upcoming sound and how we should handle it.  This year will bring the return of the Cicadas, which create a large amount of sound with their song.  To help those affected by this sound sensitivity the University of Cincinnati has created the social narrative below.

More information can be found online at:  https://www.ucucedd.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/04/The-Cicadas-are-Coming-Social-Narrative-Final.pdf
