Happy Friday!

From the Marshall PTG (Parent Teacher Group)
Thank you to everyone who participated in the Marshall Glowing Dance Party Fundraiser. It was very successful - at this point we have raised $12,597 to support activities for the students. Donations can still be made through MyBooster.com until Next Friday. Again thank you for reaching out to all your family and friends. Check out the fun from our Dance Party!
Illness Protocol & Backup Plans- Ms. Hansel
TSD Families:
Thank you to our staff for their commitment to the district, our schools, and our students as we have been working through issues with seasonal illness and the sub shortages we still face in our community and county. We appreciate your flexibility and willingness to continue to pitch in and cover in all areas.
Thank you to our parents/families for your continued patience, flexibility, and support.
We just want to remind everyone that the cold/flu season is not over yet. We anticipate that we will continue to experience shortages with subs as we work our way through this. Please continue to have a backup plan for the possibility that we may need to close bus routes temporarily, we may have to combine classes, close grade levels, or even schools on occasion due to the severe shortage of subs.
Please remember to continue with all of the health and safety measures as we continue to navigate a post-pandemic world. Hand washing is a simple strategy and very effective to ward off illness and the spread of illness. If your child becomes sick, please keep them home. This will help us all to reduce the spread of illness.

From the Counselor, Mrs. Peter
Talawanda is using the Second Step Program to help develop our student social-emotional skills to be successful both in and out of the classroom. I visit the classrooms every other week to present interactive lessons to challenge students to develop into good friends and citizens. We have finished unit 1 about Goal Setting and Growth Mindset and unit 2 about Emotion Management. We are currently working through unit 3 Empathy and Kindness. Click the appropriate link(s) below to read about what is being covered in this unit of lessons.
We will celebrate National School Counseling week February 6-10 with the theme "Helping Students Dream Big". Hopefully the students feel hopeful about a future filled with happiness and success. I appreciate all the support you offer your students as the grow and prepare for the future.
If you have any concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out at petert@talawanda.org or 513-273-3628.

Contacting Legislators
Holli Hansel has placed the information on the TSD website regarding contacting state legislators and the governor about school funding. Please consider taking a few minutes to advocate for fair school funding for Ohio. The state of Ohio's funding for public schools has been found unconstitutional multiple times. I will be reaching out to our legislators and please consider taking a few moments to do the same.
Please consider writing to our Ohio Board of Education, and other state leaders and elected officials. Check out the talking points and letters we've shared on our district website.
