School News and Information
This will be the last e-news before the Thanksgiving break. We hope you have a great Thanksgiving! Thanksgiving break begins on, Wednesday, November 22, 2017. Students return on Monday, November 27, 2017.
Report cards will be coming home in backpacks today. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.
At the beginning of the year, we informed families of the following.
For the 2017-18 school year we are discontinuing the color chart system. We will continue to follow our SOAR expectations and will continue to acknowledge students for following the expectations. When addressing breakdowns of the expectations we will utilize the Give ‘em Five conversation model (mentioned in this handbook) to engage students in the process of resolving the breakdown. Communication home will let you know that your child was being Safe, Organized, Accountable, and Respectful. If they were not you will receive communication on the area of breakdown.
This process has been great at getting students to reflect on their behavior and to take ownership for the decisions they make. However we found that for minor infractions (talking during instruction, being off task, etc.) we could not always respond in the moment without stopping class. So you may have noticed that we have brought back the charts to be a quick reminder to the student to get back on track and a reminder to the teacher to have the follow up conversation on expectations and how the student plans to correct the behavior. The important part of the process is that we are expecting the students to come up with a solution so they have greater ownership. As always we thank you for your support at home.
Updating Student Information
This year you completed forms electronically and now that we are into the school year we have received some questions about how to update information. Simply log back into Final Forms using the email and password you created and make the changes you need. If you forgot email or password click forgot email or forgot password and follow the prompts.
