School News and Information
We have had a great week back! We were excited to get the students back into school and the classrooms.
We had our family groups kick-off this week! We are all part of the Marshall Family. To help us grow connections with different people from our Marshall Family, students were given a Family Group. Family Group members will be students from all different classes and grade levels. Students meet with their Family Group once a month to participate in different activities. They will get to know their Family Group and hopefully be excited to see them pass in the hallway or on the playground. Being part of a Family Group will help students to make new friends and get to know new teachers. Staff and students loved getting to know their family group members.
We also had a PAX reboot assembly this week. The PAX Good Behavior Game® is an evidence-based universal preventive intervention applied by teachers in the classroom. Teachers implement strategies as part of their daily routines in carrying out tasks such as getting students’ attention, selecting students for tasks, transitioning from one task to the next, working as part of a team, limiting problematic behavior, and reinforcing pro-social behavior.
The PAX Good Behavior Game® helps to build children’s self-regulation, resulting in improved focus and attention, improved test scores and other academic outcomes, and many other things. PAX is unique in arranging for peer reinforcement for exhibiting prosocial behavior and peer reinforcement for inhibiting problematic behavior. PAX truly benefits everyone by making the children the heroes of change. Here’s a calendar with ways students can be PAX leaders at home.
The weather is turning colder next week. Please make sure you send your student with hats, gloves, coats, etc. If you need assistance with any items, please don’t hesitate to contact the office and speak to the social worker or principal.
Please remember that there is no school on Monday, January 15, 2023, in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
