TSD Summer Update to Families
June 1, 2020
Dear Talawanda Parents:
We hope this communication finds you and your family well! We hope that sunny weather arrives to stay very soon, and that folks can enjoy some nice activities out in the fresh air. We want to thank all of our families for their support during these unprecedented times! We have loved reading about the creative ways that our families have been dealing with the COVID-19 quarantine. We greatly look forward to a time in the future when we can put this issue behind us, while putting to good use the many lessons we’ve learned during this time. We have greatly missed all of our students and we look forward to the day when we will see them again.
We want to let our families know that we continue to meet each week with the Butler County Educational Service Center and other local school districts. We don’t know yet what Governor DeWine will decide to do about school, but we continue to work on the 3 plans that we have been asked to prepare. Those plans include a return to the traditional school model, a hybrid school model, and a more robust remote learning program. In addition, we have begun a program in which citizens can make fabric masks and donate them to the district. We want to be prepared and to help students get/have masks if they choose. We know that some families feel safe when they have access to a mask.
Talawanda will continue to touch base with families as we learn new information from Governor DeWine regarding any health/medical updates, and as we learn new information about opening schools back up in August!
Thanks again for your continued support of the Talawanda School District! Happy Summer!
In Education,
Dr. Edward Theroux
Superintendent of Schools
