PUBLIC NOTICE: Information for Appointment of Talawanda School Board Member to Fill Vacancy 

OXFORD, OHIO-The Board of Education for the Talawanda School District will soon begin collecting applications from individuals interested in filling the unexpired term of former board member David Bothast.  Mr. Bothast resigned effective September 9, 2024.

Under Ohio law, the board must appoint a replacement within 30 days of the resignation. The newly appointed member will serve until December 31, 2025. The appointed member must run in the next general election if they desire to continue serving.

Those interested in serving on the Board of Education for the Talawanda School District should contact Michael Malone, HR Director, via email at malonem@talawanda.org , to request an application.  The applications and guidelines will be distributed beginning on September 17, 2024 to those who have contacted HR Director, Michael Malone. The deadline for submitting applications is 5:00 PM  on September 24, 2024.  Any application not received by 5:00 PM on September 24, 2024, will not be considered.  Board policy po0145, can be found on the TSD website HERE.

According to Ohio law, people serving on Ohio school boards must be at least 18 years old, district residents, and registered voters.

The TSD Board of Education will review all applications and decide on the replacement at a special session scheduled for either the end of September or the first week of October (the date will be published once scheduled).
