Heat Advisory/Heat Warning Information

TSD Students, Staff, & Parents:

 

Talawanda School District is currently monitoring the weather due to higher temperatures this week.  Please know that if a Heat Warning is issued, our schools will host indoor recess.  We will also make sure students have opportunities to stay hydrated.  Some outdoor activities/practices/games may be altered due to the high temperatures.  Please be prepared for any scheduling changes.

 

TSD's Athletic Trainers will monitor the Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT).  The WBGT is a measure of heat stress in direct sunlight, which takes into account: temperature, humidity, wind speed, sun angle and cloud cover.  

 

TSD Trainers will communicate the WBGT reading with Athletic Administration and Coaches along with any adjustments that need to be made to keep our athletes safe.

 

TSD encourages everyone to let a teacher, coach, or relevant school employee know if you are feeling unwell due to the heat.  Some symptoms may include dizziness, nausea, feeling overheated, headaches or muscle cramps.
