THS Best Buddies

Talawanda High School’s Best Buddies chapter is an inclusive club that fosters one-to-one friendship matches between students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. One-to-one friendships connect throughout the school year with monthly activities and chapter events.

Talawanda's chapter holds a meeting and social event once per month. Our chapter activities include a trick-or-treat event, a holiday party, a yearly service project, and an inclusive spring social and dance. THS Best Buddies aims to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities to form meaningful friendships with peers, improve public speaking, self-advocacy, and communication skills, and to feel valued by the school community.

“Best Buddies is the world’s largest organization dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of the 200 million people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD)” (bestbuddies.org).
