School News and Information
Happy Friday! We had a great short week at Bogan! The students enjoyed a fun, interactive presentation from Goggin Ice Center today.
Drop-Off and Pick-Up Procedures
Thank you for adjusting to our new routine that was started on Thursday, September 7th, 2023. This change was designed to ensure the safety and efficiency of our dismissal process.
All three elementary schools (Bogan Elementary, Kramer Elementary, and Marshall Elementary) will dismiss vehicle/car riders at 3:05 p.m. Bus riders and walkers will continue to follow their usual dismissal procedures, departing when the buses arrive and at their designated walker dismissal time, respectively.
We understand that consistency in school routines is important for both students and families. We have carefully considered this adjustment and believe that it strikes a balance between the need for instruction and the convenience of our dismissal process.
**Please make sure to display your orange card clearly for the names to be sent into the adults organizing and lining up the students. In addition, once your name has been sent in, placing your orange card in your driver’s door window can help speed up the process at the rainbow colored cones. For safety reasons, all students should enter the car on the driver’s side. Students should not walk around the vehicle in the line. **
AM Drop Off
During drop off, we’ll utilize the two lanes and merge into one just past the first gate. Our curbside crew will help to expand the length of sidewalk where you can allow your students to unload. Students should unload from the driver’s side only. Please remain in your vehicle. If your student needs assistance, a staff member can help. Once your student has unloaded, you can feel free to carefully pass on the right folks who may be waiting for unloading assistance. Preschool parents, please make sure to pull up close to the front so preschool staff can assist your student.

Classified Substitute Requirements
All classified substitutes are required to have a background check. Background checks can be completed at the Miami University Police Department, by appointment. Information can be found on their website. Have a copy of the background check sent to the Talawanda School District.
In addition to the background check and drug screen, Educational Assistants Substitutes are required to have an Educational Assistant Aide permit through the State of Ohio. This permit must have the ESEA endorsement. To add the “ESEA qualified” endorsement to an educational aide permit, the individual must have successfully completed one of the following:

The examination for paraprofessionals is prescribed by the State Board of Education (ParaPro Assessment). Candidates must request their test scores be reported directly to the Ohio Department of Education from the Educational Testing Service.

An associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher education; or at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours).

Lane Library- Caitlin Campbell
Caitlin Campbell from the Oxford Lane Library has completed a how-to handout to help families better navigate Lane's catalog when looking for Accelerated Reader books.
Oxford Multicultural Family Alliance
Oxford Multicultural Family Alliance is hosting a Community Meet & Greet on Sunday, October 1st, from 2 pm-4 pm at the TRI Community Center Playground/Field Area (6025 Fairfield Rd, Oxford) All are welcome! The goals of OMFA include creating a community of families to support and advocate for the diverse students of Oxford. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. Invite your family and friends!
