Bogan Elementary Weekly E-News

May 7, 2021

Message from Dr. Niehaus

Happy Friday! Just a reminder that your children will be involved in MAP Testing (Measure of Academic Progress) from May 10-21.

Thank you PTG

A big thank you to our PTG for making all of us feel so special during “Staff Appreciation Week.” We loved the coffee and donuts provided before school one morning. Also, we really appreciated how the parents adopted each one of our staff members and provided us with a few of “Our Favorite Things.” Lastly, thank you for the Friday Snack Cart, filled with goodies, for all of the staff members. What a great way to make us all feel special!

5th Grade End of the Year Activities

We are planning some end-of-the-year activities for our 5th graders that will fall within the Covid Protocols. On May 14th the 5th grade students will visit the Middle School and we will be having a pizza party for them after they return to Bogan. The PTG will be providing snow cones for 5th graders on May 21st. The 5th grade classroom teachers will also be organizing outdoor

games/activities for the students on that day as well.

We are planning a Clap Out for the 5th graders when they leave the building on the last day of school. 5th grade parents will be invited to participate (outside) in this event. I plan on finalizing the plans for the Clap Out and any other 5th grade activities at our Grade Level Meeting on May 12th. In case you need to plan ahead ( leave work early, etc.), school will dismiss at 3:15 on the last day of school. 5th Grade parents should be here and in place by 2:45. As I stated before, I will give you more specific details in the May14th E-News.

Due to Covid, the typical end-of-year activities will still be occurring, but they will look differently. Field Day Is something that the students look forward to all year. It will be held on Friday, May 21st--but unfortunately, we will have to do this without parent volunteers this year (we sure do miss our parents). Since we have not been able to have concerts this year, Mrs. Pitts is working on making music videos to showcase the talents of our students. She will make the video available for students and parents to view. Look for the link in our E-News in the coming weeks!

Awards will still be presented this year, but in each classroom. Our goal is to capture the awards and provide a link for parents to view the award recipients.

Final plans are being made for Switch Day, which will be held on Monday, May 24th. The purpose of Switch Day is to provide exposure to the next grade level for our Bogan students. We will be following Covid protocols, which will cause the Switch Day event to be quite short. Bogan remote students are invited to attend. They should report to the Bogan’s front porch at 2pm to be signed in. Individual students will be escorted to a classroom by 5th grade

students.--following Covid protocols. Masks are required for each student entering the school. The classroom in which they visit, during this time, will not necessarily be the classroom in which they will be placed for the 2021-2022 school year. Each grade level will provide an activity for the students, in order to familiarize the students to the next grade level. Remote students should be ready to return to their parents by approximately 2:40

Chromebooks (and chargers) will be collected this year. Please return them, as well as the chargers, to school no later than May 20th.

If your child has lost anything this year, please remind them to check the lost and found as we have lots of items that will be donated to a charity at the end of the year if they are not claimed.

Bogan’s Got Talent -this is an opportunity for students to share their talents. Please click HERE for more information.

For families with high school students: Wednesday, May 26th will NOT be an asynchronous day. The 26th will be an exam day.

To all of the mothers out there--Happy Mother’s Day and enjoy your special day. Have a great weekend!
