School News and Information

Happy Friday, we had another great week at school!  Shout out to Mr. Marston and the THS Jazz and Steel Drum Bands--we had a terrific concert at Bogan today! We'd like to remind you that there will be no classes for students on May 6th and May 7th. These days have been allocated for professional development for our TSD staff. Students will return on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Is your child missing a coat? The Bogan lost & found is overflowing, with over 200 coats!   Please remind your child to check the lost & found area for missing items.

Drop off and Pick up Procedures:

As a reminder, student drop off happens at the rear of the building beginning at 8:05.  Please release your K-5 student as early as possible along the straight away/sidewalk.  Only preschool students need to be released in the first spot near the preschool staff.  No students should be released in the front of the building or  walked between buses during arrival.  If students arrive late-after 8:25, please park and bring students in to the main office to sign in.

As the weather continues to improve, more classes will be taking their afternoon snack/recess outside.  We will not be able to open the gates for parent pick up until 2:55.  Please plan accordingly to avoid lining up onto 177.  Please pull as close as possible to the car in front of you in order to make room.

Kindergarten Information

If you missed kindergarten registration day, please contact the main office to schedule an appointment to screen your child for the 2024-25 school year.

Every year, Oxford Lions Club collects and sends 900-plus pairs of glasses to children in need!

Please send any glasses donations to Betsy Beaton (Marshall Elementary School) or Shaunna Tafelski (Board Office) by mid-May We are happy to swing by and pick up glasses donations or they can be dropped off at Marshall or the Board Office. Thank you for supporting the Oxford Lions Club! :)

Updated COVID Information- Mrs. Fangman- District Nurse

The CDC recently changed its guidance regarding Covid information and protocols. The district is taking this opportunity to share with you the updated COVID information and policy. We continue to prioritize the health and safety of our students, teachers, and staff. We must work together to minimize the spread of illness within our school community.

Please follow your healthcare provider's advice regarding when to stay home with illness, and when your student may return to school following a COVID diagnosis.

Your child’s symptoms must improve and the child must be fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medications. This helps prevent the spread of illness/Covid.

We collaborate closely with local health authorities to stay updated on COVID activity in our area and follow any additional recommendations or guidelines they provide.

The district appreciates your cooperation and support in helping us maintain a healthy learning environment for all students. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Final Forms Update and Reminder

TSD will prompt parents in the first week of August to begin updating their child's school forms for the 2024-25 school year.  We know sometimes parents begin doing this early, but it's important to wait for the prompt from the district, as some forms will be changing for next school year.  The updates will be made in July after all of the summer programs are completed.

Health and Wellness News- Mrs. Machecko

Talawanda School District received a grant from Interact for Health to provide education and support to both students and families on the topic of e-cigarettes/vaping.  This video, "Caring Adults Tackling Youth Vaping", is meant for any and all caring adults who want to learn more about this health issue and the vital role that adults can play by having conversations with the young people in their lives.  Following the video, please consider taking a brief survey with a chance to win a gift card for your participation.
