Bogan Elementary Weekly E-News

April 23, 2021

Message from Dr. Niehaus

Happy Friday!  State testing will continue next week. Chromebooks will remain at school so that we can charge them and have them ready to use for the Ohio State Tests.

It is always beneficial for students to get a good night’s rest, eat a healthy breakfast, be reminded to take their time, read carefully, and do their very best.  Our students are prepared and we know they will do well. Students are encouraged to bring a healthy snack and water to drink during testing days.

Due to Covid, the typical end-of-year activities will be planned differently.  Field Day will be held on Friday, May 21st--unfortunately, without parent volunteers. Since we have not been able to have concerts this year, Mrs. Pitts is working on making music videos to showcase  the talents of our students.  She will make the video available for students and parents to view.  Look for the link in our E-News in the coming weeks!

Awards will still be presented this year, but in each classroom.  Our goal is to capture the awards and provide a link for parents to view the award recipients.

Final plans are being made for Switch Day, which will be held on Monday, May 24th.  The purpose of Switch Day is to provide exposure to the next grade level for our Bogan students.  We will be following Covid protocols, which will cause the switch day event to be quite short.  Bogan remote students are invited to attend.  They should report to the Bogan’s front porch at 2pm to be signed in.  Individual students will be escorted to a classroom by 5th grade students.--following Covid protocols.  Masks are required for each student entering the school.  The classroom in which they visit during this time, will not necessarily be the classroom in which they will be placed for the 2021-2022 school year.  Each grade level will provide an activity for the students in order to familiarize the students to the next grade level. Remote students should be ready to return to their parents by approximately 2:40

Chromebooks (and chargers) will be collected this year.  Please return to school no later than May 20th.

For families with high school students:  Wednesday, May 26th will NOT be an asynchronous day.  The 26th will be an exam day.

If your student is NOW attending school in person, but you were issued a hotspot while the district was hosting remote learning, we will begin collecting hotspots from just those students that are now face-to-face.

You may return the hotspot to your child's school, in the main office.  We will mark each student down as we receive the hotspots back.

If you have any questions, please contact your child's school.

We are trying to understand the health needs of people in the Oxford community and how those needs could be better served.  The study is being conducted by students and a faculty member at Miami University (Dr. Cameron Hay-Rollins), and the findings will be shared with the City of Oxford and all others interested in the health and well-being of our community.  If you are a permanent resident of Oxford and are above the age of 18, please complete this online survey (should take approximately 5-10 minutes).
