Certified/licensed candidates must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and a current teaching license from the Ohio Department of Education.
Classified Educational Assistant positions have two classifications (monitor and specialized) and do not require a Civil Service examination; however, it does require a high school diploma or equivalent. Some of the specialized classified positions (instructional/special education) does require a passing score on the Paraprofessional exam, 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours of college course work to be highly qualified.
Classified Civil Service positions include secretaries, custodial, maintenance, and food service. These jobs require the completion of a Civil Service examination for permanent employment. Announcements for Civil Service Examinations will be posted on this website, in the local media, and at each building where a vacancy occurs. Temporary and substitute positions do not require passage of Civil Service examinations.
All staff and substitute staff are required to complete BCI and FBI background checks at their own expense.

Civil Service Examinations - District Maintenance and Custodial Personnel
The Talawanda School District will hold open competitive written examinations to create eligibility lists for the positions District Maintenance Personnel on Tuesday, March 22, 4 p.m. and District Custodial Personnel on Wednesday, March 23, 4 p.m. Both exams will be held at Talawanda Middle School Auditeria, 4030 Oxford-Reily Road, Oxford, Ohio 45056. A hands-on skills test will be given to the top scorers from each examination at a later date. Application forms, detailed job descriptions, and pay scales for these positions are available at the Talawanda School District Board Office, 131 W. Chestnut Street, Oxford, OH 45056, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., or by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope marked, “District Maintenance” or “District Custodial”. Completed application forms must be received by 4:00 p.m., Monday, March 14, 2016. (Attaching a resume to the application form is strongly encouraged.) Admission forms to the examinations will be given only to those who file by the deadline.
Probationary period – 1 year. Upon request to the superintendent, the district shall make reasonable accommodations for a disabled person to participate in this activity.
